Call for papers

The Colloquium is concerned with recent advances in the areas of Quantitative and Theoretical Geography, and welcomes the submission of high-quality, original contributions. Presentations may describe work which you have recently completed, or work which is in progress but which will be of methodological theoretical interest.

Topics of interest include without being limited to:

  • Space-time processes in regional science
  • Geographical flows and networks
  • Urban dynamics and growth
  • Economical geography and spatial economy
  • Natural resource management and risk analysis
  • Health geography and epidemiology
  • Cellular automata, multi-agent systems and cooperative phenomena
  • Innovative and inter-disciplinary methods for spatial data
  • Epistemological issues in quantitative geography

In recent years we have seen papers in the areas of GIS, spatial analysis, statistical techniques, mathematical models, fractals, remote sensing, cellular automata, agent-based modelling, locational analysis, urban modelling, environment and pollution, theoretical models, cartographic issues, urban and regional development: this list is not exhaustive.

Proposals for special sessions, including named proposals among participants, are welcome.

Abstract format
Your abstract should be not more than 1 page in length. The collected abstracts will be available at registration.

Abstracts should be in Microsoft Word 2003 (or earlier) format. It will help considerably if your abstract is formatted according to the following guidelines:

  • Pagesize: A4
  • Margins: these should be not less than 1" (2.5cm)
  • Title: Arial Bold, 13pt, centred
  • Author list: Times New Roman, 12pt, left aligned
  • Author affiliations: Times New Roman Italic, 12pt, left aligned
  • Email address of corresponding author: Courier New, 11pt, left aligned
  • Subheadings: Times New Roman Bold, 12pt, left aligned
  • Abstract text: Times New Roman, 12pt, justified
  • References: Times New Roman, 12pt, left aligned, 0.5" (1cm) hanging indent
  • Illustrations: These should be kept to a minimum and pasted into the document
  • Keywords: choose no more than 5 keywords or phrases

Submit your abstract as an email attachment to ecqtg09@nuim.ie.

Deadline
If you submit your abstract later than Friday July 17th, we cannot guarantee that we will be able to include you in the final Colloquium programme.

If you are a facebook user, we have also set up a group for the Colloquium on which we will duplicate any mailings.

The official language of the Colloquium is English.
