MSc in Geocomputation 2012-2013


A full-time, one-year degree programme, at NUI Maynooth, taught by some of the world's leading researchers in the exciting and very much in demand field of geocomputation.

This degree programme aims to provide a sound theoretical and practical foundation in geocomputation for numerate graduates with suitable backgrounds such as mathematics, engineering, geography, computer science, geomatics and mining, as well as professionals working in cognate disciplines with suitable experience.

The programme will:

  • provide students with a sound understanding of the theoretical principles underlying geocomputation
  • provide students with a sound understanding of the practical aspects of Geographical Information System software and management
  • expose students to state-of-the-art hardware and software
  • develop students' analytical and problem-solving skills through the integration of knowledge, insight and skills acquired in the programme
  • develop appropriate communication skills - these will include oral, presentation, cartographic and management skills

    The degree programme is flexible, allowing students to obtain either:

  • Higher Diploma
  • Master of Science in Geocomputation

    FEES 2012-2013
    This programme is supported under the National Development Plan's Graduate Skills Conversion Programme. Fees for EU students are €2,750. Non-EU students pay full fees of €9177. One competitive tuition bursary for a student with a 1st class honours undergraduate degree may be available in any one year.
